Mississippi Power Announces Solar Photovoltaic Renewable Energy RFP

Mississippi Power has issued an RFP for proposals on solar photovoltaic renewable resource resources. Mississippi Power will have the opportunity to review RFP resources market offerings if it receives qualified proposals through this RFP. The company will assess whether there are viable and economically viable energy projects that can meet the needs of its customers.

The submitted projects must have a minimum of 20 MW AC. Mississippi Power will accept proposals from bidders not affiliated with Mississippi Power or Southern Company for 25-year energy-only power purchase contracts for solar photovoltaic resources.  Mississippi Power would get all environmental attributes from these projects.

Resources must be located in Mississippi and must be directly interconnected with Mississippi Power’s transmission system. Bids must be received by March 15, 2022, at 6 p.m. CT. Mississippi Power, a subsidiary to Southern Co., is now in its 97th year. It produces energy for nearly 191,000 customers across 23 southeast Mississippi counties. Mississippi Power has nearly 160 MW approved solar energy capacity and is the largest partner for renewable energy in Mississippi.
