Gridscape Solutions, the City of San Diego, has awarded Industria Power a contract for eight microgrids. This will allow Industria Power to save an estimated $6 million in avoided energy costs over 25 years. Construction is moving from engineering to mobilization and will conclude in December 2022.
Industria Power is the general contract for this multifaceted microgrid. Gridscape Solutions was selected as the project developer by the California Energy Commission (CEC). This grant was for an Advanced Emergency Microgrid Grant. Gridscape brought Industria Power into the project to complete construction. Shell New Energies US is the asset owner and operator for 25 year.
“Industria Power and Gridscape Solutions continue to work together to develop and construct more than 18 Complex Solar Microgrids at multiple locations throughout California,” said Ralph Ciarlanti III CEO & President of Industria Power.
The City of San Diego prioritized eight sites, including three recreation centres, two fire stations, and three police stations. The microgrids house 930 kW of solar PV systems, 2175MWh battery storage, multiple electric vehicle charging stations, and 930 kW of photovoltaic systems.
